PRINCETON, NJ - March 19th, 2015 - On April 1st, 2015, Princeton Theological Seminary and Princeton University students will host a panel discussion featuring author and journalist Max Blumenthal, former New York Times Middle East correspondent Chris Hedges, and Israeli anti war activist Ronnie Barkan. Princeton Seminary’s Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Theology and Culture, Dr. Mark Lewis Taylor will moderate the discussion, whose theme and title are taken from Blumenthal’s new book Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel.
Will Eskew, moderator of Seminarians for Peace and Justice in the Holy Land founded the student group after visiting Israel/Palestine last year. “I heard about the conflict [between Israel and Palestine] my entire life, but didn’t understand the systemic aspects of it until I traveled there myself. Max Blumenthal’s book helped fill in some of those historical gaps and I hope it will spark good conversation in the community.”
In addition to being sponsored by Seminarians for Peace and Justice in the Holy Land, other cosponsors from Princeton Theological Seminary include: the Association of Charismatic Theological Students (ACTS), the Student Government Association, the seminary’s Religion and Society department, and the Office of Multicultural Relations. The Princeton Committee on Palestine is the University’s main student group sponsor.
The panel discussion is free and open to the public. It will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 at 7:00pm at Princeton University’s Friend Center Auditorium 101, followed by a Q & A session and book signing by Mr. Blumenthal afterwards.
